An Independent School Built by & for Community

Valley Independent Preparatory Academy exists because families and educators believed our community deserved an outstanding non-religious, independent school dedicated to academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, and the development of character.

Our independence allows decisions to be made thoughtfully, close to the classroom, and always with students at the center. We value strong partnerships with families, exceptional teaching, and an educational experience that prepares children not simply to succeed in school, but to think critically, lead with integrity, and continue learning throughout their lives.

We humbly invite you to join our community.

COMMUNITY

A vibrant learning environment is strengthened by students from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Respect for others and openness to different ideas and beliefs enrich every classroom conversation.

EXCELLENCE

High expectations inspire meaningful achievement. Students are encouraged to pursue excellence through perseverance, thoughtful inquiry, and a genuine love of learning.

CURIOSITY

Questions are welcome. Exploration is encouraged. We believe lasting learning begins with curiosity and grows through critical thinking, creativity, and intellectual independence.

CHARACTER

Integrity, kindness, responsibility, and resilience are developed alongside academic achievement. Students learn to contribute positively to their classrooms, their communities, and the world around them.

The academic program at Valley Independent is designed to build a strong intellectual foundation while nurturing curiosity, creativity, and independent thought.

The curriculum follows a clear grade-by-grade scope and sequence across reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies;  aligned with rigorous state and national standards and built around clear learning benchmarks.

This framework is developed and continually refined by our faculty, reflecting teacher expertise while supporting consistency and student progress. Rather than relying solely on high-stakes testing, teachers develop a deep understanding of each student through ongoing formative assessment, careful observation, authentic projects, and regular feedback that guides instruction.

Small class sizes make this personalized approach possible.

Teachers can identify areas for growth early, offer meaningful challenges for advanced learners, and adapt instruction to respond to each student’s strengths and learning needs. Students are encouraged to think deeply, take initiative, and approach learning with confidence, resilience, and integrity.

Our preschool program provides a nurturing foundation for lifelong learning.

Designed specifically for our youngest learners (18m-4y), classrooms maintain developmentally appropriate teacher-to-child ratios while balancing early academic readiness with social and emotional growth.

Children build the skills that prepare them for the rest of their education journey through engaging experiences in language, literacy, mathematics, science, creative play, and exploration. Equally important, they learn to collaborate with others, communicate their ideas, solve problems, develop self-confidence, and build independence.

Our experienced early childhood educators understand that these first school experiences help shape a child's attitude toward learning for years to come. Their goal is to ensure every child feels safe, valued, and excited to discover the world around them.

Kindergarten through 6th grade:

Our founding year serves students from preschool through sixth grade, with a long-term vision of thoughtfully expanding into a complete college preparatory school as our community grows.

Reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies form the core of every student's education. Beyond these foundational subjects, enrichment opportunities allow students to explore music, visual arts, world languages, technology, physical education, and other areas of interest as determined by the needs and interests of our school community.

As an independent school, we have the flexibility to continually refine our program rather than following a one-size-fits-all model. Our curriculum evolves through collaboration between educators and families, ensuring that it remains engaging, relevant, and responsive to students.

Equally important is the development of character. Students learn to approach challenges with perseverance, treat others with respect, take responsibility for their actions, and contribute positively to their school community. Small classes allow these values to be modeled, reinforced, and lived each day.

Each year builds intentionally upon the last, ensuring students leave every grade with stronger academic skills, greater confidence, and an expanding capacity for thoughtful, independent learning.

Accreditation: Valley Independent Preparatory Academy is following California's established accreditation process for new independent schools.

New schools typically begin the accreditation process after completing their initial semester of operation, once sufficient academic records and institutional documentation have been established. Accreditation is then applied retroactively to the school's opening period.

Our faculty have successfully participated in this process before and are familiar with its standards and expectations. We anticipate completing accreditation according to the customary timeline and will keep our families informed throughout the process.
